The balloon club is forced to close down

At a special general meeting held in Canberra on 8th March 2009, the balloon club membership voted by a large majority to close down the club because of its inability to meet the legal costs that it incurred defending itself against the recent legal action (which remains unresolved at 31st March 2009).

There are plans underway to form a new balloon club and you will find details of these plans in the latest and last edition of the club’s newsletter.

Hot-Air ballooning is one of Australia's most popular aerial sports. Approximately 200 balloons fly in all states in Australia. The majority of balloons are privately owned or owned by syndicates of enthusiasts. There are also a number of commercial ballooning companies. Balloon meets and fiestas are held regularly across Australia during the main flying season from March to November.

The Balloon Club of NSW & ACT Inc is a nonprofit sporting and social organisation. Membership consists of enthusiasts from all walks of life. Members participate in regular Club meets as pilots, student pilots, instructors, balloon crew or competition officials.
